Getting to know the person behind the camera!
Hi, I'm Kathryn "KT" Wise
My friends call me KT, and I'm passionate about helping people unlock their photography potential.
Y'all, I remember when VHS camcorders first became available. I was about 8 or 9 years old when I would use my aunt's camcorder and started recording family events. Even then, I was fascinated by cameras and storytelling. As I got older, I thought about becoming a news camera operator. Looking back, I'm glad life took me in a different direction because my true passion isn't chasing the news. It's helping people see the world creatively through photography.
In middle school, I took an arts course where we had the opportunity to work in a darkroom. I remember watching the photographs slowly appear on the paper and it felt like magic. I loved it. But back then, photography was super expensive, and film costs made it difficult to pursue seriously.
Years later, in 2004, everything changed when I was introduced to digital photography. I started working with a production company and eventually co-founded my first photography and video business. During that time, I learned valuable lessons about photography, business, creativity, and resilience. After that chapter ended, I stepped away from photography for several years. Like many people who face challenges in life, I needed time to rediscover what inspired me. During that period, I found myself drawn to nature photography. Spending time outdoors with a camera helped me reconnect with the joy that first made me fall in love with photography.
One thing that has remained constant throughout my life is education. For more than two decades, I've been both an educator and photographer. I've taught students of all ages and experience levels, from elementary school classrooms to adult learners. My goal isn't just to teach camera settings. It's to help you understand photography in a way that finally clicks. Whether Iβm in a classroom or behind a camera, I've always enjoyed helping people learn, grow, and gain confidence.
That's why Wise Images has evolved into more than a photography business.
